Mt Rainier – iPhone Pics

Flying over mountain ranges always makes me think of how vast this land is and how we rarely compare or realize the significance of some of these great land structures. Mt Rainier is in WA state, I had the opportunity to hike this mountain years ago and it was incredible, I’ve never experienced walking through snow with shorts and T-shirt in the middle of the summer until then. Asheville

After the settlement that Canon DSLRs are better than Nikon’s, we decided to go out and celebrate with a spontaneous shoot in the middle of downtown Asheville. The ex- Nikon lovers felt free as they rotated shooting with my Canon. Their excitement was expressed through their emotions, body language and photographs. They are now part of a wonderful Canon group, this was the best initiation ever.

Rock Hall Museum

For those with great appreciation for Rock & Roll or just music overall, should go visit the Rock & Roll hall of fame museum in Cleveland, OH. From Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean outfit with the glove to Kurt Cobain’s original death certificate, I can say there are lot of neat things to be seen there. They have a vast variety of stories in writing and documentaries of some of Rock & Roll’s greatest. Since the use of cameras was not allowed, I pulled my camera out and snapped photos of only the few things shown below. The Rock Hall has many floors displaying guitars, videos, documentaries, movies, and concerts live in 3D! It’s great fun and a great way to educate yourself about great musicians who have been inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame.

Dali – High Museum

So I finally got to see pieces of art from one of the most controversial painters of all time, Salvador Dali. The High Museum in Atlanta, GA had a Dali exhibition and while being down there on location I was able to go and see for myself a lot of this artist’s phenomenal work. Most people who find the interest have strong opinions towards Dali and his art. Whether you like it or hate it I’d like to think he knew people would feel something towards his art, and in essence that’s probably what he wanted and led him to incredible success. I have always been influenced by his work and he has been one of my favorite artists of all time.

I was able to sneak out my cell phone and take a few photos in this gallery, since cameras were not allowed. (I’m a smooth criminal, haha.) I enjoyed my whole time there and learned a lot through the audio player which was offered to enhance the learning of his Art. One thing that came as a shock to me was the size of one of Dali’s most famous paintings. I knew that “Persistence of Memory” was relatively small, yet seeing it face to face, it was a lot smaller than I anticipated. The High Museum no longer has this exhibit, but if you ever come across it near you, I recommend everyone to go visit and see the work of a great one.

After looking at the photos of the Beats Headphones on the box in which they came in, I thought of doing a shot myself for my portfolio. Finally one weekend, when I had a little bit of time on my hands, I went in and got it over with. I took a low-key approach to this shot, wanting the headphones to look contrasty and sort of the “sexy” mood as some call it. Initially the set and the camera setup were simple. Yet both became a bit complex when I hung the headphones with a fishing line. I wanted to capture them at that very angle so they could appear free of tension from sitting on a table top etc. The overall shoot was very straight forward and well envisioned prior to its completion; which made it fast, easy and without any serious hold backs or complications. These headphones have great noise canceling and awesome sound quality. If you’ve not had the opportunity yet, I suggest you at least test out these bad boys and hear music in a different way.

Diving into the skies

Jumping off a plane at 14,000 feet, free falling at more than 120 miles per hour, and at -10 degrees was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve ever had. I took a skydiving trip with some of my buddies and even though I’ve always liked watching extreme sports, I have never done anything that came close to this. As I sat there and imagined the actuality of being thrown down from a plane, breathing and feeling clouds and gravity pulling you to planet Earth, it still seemed somewhat unreal and hard to comprehend without actually having done it. I think this was a gateway to upcoming activities that I will be doing often in the near future. I recently heard that 90 percent of the world will never sky dive, I am not sure if this is true or not, but if it is, I am now in the 10 percent that has and will be doing so.

Viva Las Vegas

These are only a few photos from my visit to the City that never sleeps, Las Vegas. The view from my room was incredible, I could see the whole strip until the lights illuminating the streets faded away at night. I took my DSLR out one night only when we visited the strip. I was only able to capture a few images with it. I Enjoyed the experience and definitely plan on going back to Sin City, capture images of all the places I went and all the places I’ve still yet to see. I must say that Las Vegas is a place that overwhelms with it’s prestigious architectures, buildings, lights, Cirque Du Soleils and how fast it is for one to gable his/her money away.

And these are just a few others that i took with my small Camera which i carry with me at all times.

Jessica Long – Musician

I’ve had the opportunity to work with great local talent and musician Jessica Long. For the past few months we’ve been working together to produce images that will be used for her Music. We began elaborating back in January for the first photo-shoot and started working in February. I’m pretty stoked to see the outcome of my images and looking back it’s been a pretty long, but fun and satisfying project of which there’s more to come. Here’s a little more about Jessica:

Jessica Long’s entrancing voice and unique style create a refreshing new alternative sound that finds its roots in vintage rock and acoustic folk music. She is currently recording her debut album in Nashville with Grammy-nominated producer Billy Smiley. The CD will feature a pallet of Jessica’s original compositions that showcase her exceptional song-crafting skills. The album selections include sounds that range from folk rock to acoustic ballads. Look for the CD release this fall.
A Texan by birth, Jessica grew up in North Carolina. Coming from a family of music lovers, Jessica remembers listening to her parent’s albums and studying the charismatic features of each artist. Even as a young girl, the song-writing of Lennon and McCartney, the poetic balladry of Simon and Garfunkle and the vocal harmonies of the Beach Boys were some of the wonders that left a lasting impression on her. Jessica began composing her own songs at the age of 10, and her enthusiasm for the performing arts also led her to participation in the theatre. While studying music, theatre and film in college, Jessica’s passion for song-writing was rekindled. After theatre rehearsals, she would often lock herself in one of the music rooms with guitar and piano while she worked for many hours to create her own music.
Drawing on her own experiences as well as her keen observation of others, Jessica’s lyrical style opens a poetic window on the realities of human nature that will resonate with those who experience her music. Jessica’s distinctive sound mingled with the foundational influences of her formative years has enabled her to produce music that will inspire all listeners.
